Shri Raj Kumar Arora IDAS (1990) takes over as Controller General of Defence Accounts.
Shri Raj Kumar Arora has served the Government in various strategic and sensitive positions, both in the Ministry of Defence and in allied sectors of financial management and oversight. His career has been marked by significant contributions to areas such as financial policy, accounting, audit, budgeting, procurement, and personnel administration—all vital components of national defence and governance.
Prior to his appointment as CGDA, Shri Arora held several prestigious assignments that reflect his versatility and commitment to public service. He served as Additional Secretary in the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), where he was instrumental in streamlining administrative processes and enhancing institutional efficiency. His role as Finance Manager (Air) in the Acquisition Wing of the Ministry of Defence placed him at the core of India’s defence procurement apparatus, ensuring financial oversight and accountability in one of the most critical sectors of national security.
He also served with distinction as Director in the Ministry of Finance, where he contributed to the formulation and implementation of national fiscal policies. In the Defence Accounts Department, he held the position of Integrated Financial Advisor (IFA) across various Commands and field offices, guiding military expenditure and ensuring robust financial discipline across operational units.
Significantly, Shri Arora also served as Member (Finance) in the erstwhile Ordnance Factory Board (OFB), where he played a key role in financial oversight during a time of significant transformation in India’s defence manufacturing sector.
With his appointment as the CGDA, Shri Arora now leads one of the oldest and most vital financial organizations in the country, responsible for providing seamless financial services to the Armed Forces and the Ministry of Defence. The CGDA’s office plays a pivotal role in ensuring the effective allocation and utilization of defence funds, maintaining transparency, and promoting fiscal responsibility across the defence establishment.
