Expressing concern over the recent spate of accidents, newly appointed Chairman Railway Board Ashwani Lohani, said it is time for deep introspection to find maladies and shortcomings that plague the system and Railways is looking for long term solutions and not mere quick fixes.

Interacting with young officers of Delhi Division in New Delhi, Mr Lohani said that since they are the ones working at the ground level, perceptible changes should come from them.

Pointing out that motivated and zealous human force is the driver of any organisation, Mr Lohani advised that foremost they should have pride and passion for their work and they should lead from front, setting examples for others to follow.

The new chairman also instructed the officers to specially look into the staff welfare matters and be perceptible and humane towards their needs.

On the issue of cleanliness he said, cleanliness is a state of mind and asked the officers to start from de-cluttering their table and improve the state of the working spaces, stations, yards and trains.

He said transformation in the Railways could only be brought about by sincere and collective efforts, emphasis would be on betterment of infrastructure, work culture, simplifying procedures and taking responsibilities of actions.
