Smt. Priyanka Niranjan, IAS (Uttar Pradesh 2013), a dedicated and efficient officer known for her grounded administrative approach and people-first governance, has been appointed as the District Magistrate & Collector of Gonda, Uttar Pradesh. She was previously serving as District Magistrate & Collector of Mirzapur, where her tenure was marked by initiatives in public welfare, women empowerment, and district-level development programs.
A graduate in Sociology from the University of Allahabad through S.S.K. Girls Degree College, she went on to complete her Post-Graduation in Economics from the same university. Her academic background in the social sciences lends her a strong understanding of grassroots challenges and societal dynamics, which has consistently reflected in her field-level governance.
Smt. Niranjan began her IAS career with foundational training at LBSNAA, Mussoorie, after which she was appointed as Assistant Secretary in the Ministry of Urban Development, Government of India, under the Government of India’s Central Deputation scheme. She later served as Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) in Muzaffarnagar, gaining valuable experience in land revenue management, law and order, and district-level planning.
Throughout her service, she has been known for a responsive and participatory style of administration, ensuring effective implementation of welfare schemes and maintaining close coordination with grassroots institutions. Her leadership in Mirzapur received appreciation for strengthening public grievance redressal mechanisms and promoting integrated district development strategies.
