Ms. Priyanka Das IAS (Madhya Pradesh 2009) has been appointed Joint Secretary, Ministry of Civil Aviation for a combined tenure of five years upto 05/03/2030 vice Shri Shobhit Gupta IRSEE (2000).
Priyanka Das IAS: Officer with Strong Academic Foundation and Public Health Leadership
Ms Priyanka Das, an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of the Madhya Pradesh cadre (2009 batch), is widely recognised for her strong academic background and extensive administrative experience across key sectors such as public health, agriculture, and urban governance. Her career reflects a blend of intellectual depth and practical governance expertise.
She completed her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from St. Xavier’s College under the University of Calcutta, securing First position. She further pursued her post-graduation in Political Science from Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi, where she again achieved First distinction. Her academic grounding in political science has significantly shaped her analytical approach to governance and policy-making.
After joining the IAS, Ms Das underwent her foundational training before taking up field assignments in Madhya Pradesh. In her early career, she served as Assistant Collector in Jabalpur and later as Sub-Divisional Officer in Narsinghgarh, where she gained valuable experience in revenue administration and grassroots governance. She went on to serve as Chief Executive Officer of Zila Panchayat in Seoni, playing a key role in rural development and Panchayati Raj institutions.
Ms Das has held several important positions as District Collector and Magistrate, including in Tikamgarh, Hoshangabad, and Morena. In these roles, she was responsible for district administration, law and order, and implementation of development programmes. Her tenure was marked by a focus on effective service delivery and strengthening administrative systems at the district level.
Her experience in urban governance includes serving as Municipal Commissioner in Bhopal, where she handled urban infrastructure, civic administration, and municipal services. She also served as Additional Commissioner in the Urban Administration & Development Department, contributing to policy and planning in urban development.
A significant phase of her career has been her contribution to public health. As Mission Director of the National Health Mission (NHM) in Bhopal, she led key health initiatives and programmes aimed at improving healthcare delivery across the state. Her leadership in this role reflects her ability to manage large-scale public welfare programmes with efficiency and impact.
In the agriculture sector, Ms Das served as Managing Director in organisations such as the Madhya Pradesh State Seed and Farm Development Corporation and the Agriculture Marketing Department, where she contributed to strengthening agricultural systems and farmer support mechanisms.
She has also served as Secretary to the Government in the MSME Department, contributing to industrial and economic development policies. Currently, she is posted at the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (LBSNAA), Mussoorie, as Deputy Director (Senior Scale) under the Department of Personnel and Training, Government of India, where she is involved in training and mentoring future civil servants.
With over a decade of diverse administrative experience, Ms Priyanka Das continues to be a dynamic and impactful officer. Her career reflects a strong commitment to public service, effective governance, and continuous contribution to nation-building.
