President of India graces Women Conference organised by Tribal Affairs Ministry

On May 25, 2023, the President of India, Smt Droupadi Murmu, attended and addressed a Women’s Conference organized by the Union Ministry of Tribal Affairs in Khunti, Jharkhand. In her speech, the President emphasized that being a woman or belonging to a tribal society is not a disadvantage. She highlighted the numerous inspiring examples of women’s contributions in various fields such as social reform, politics, economy, education, science and research, business, sports, and the military.

The President encouraged women to recognize their own talents and not compare themselves to others when striving for success in any field. She urged them to tap into the infinite power within themselves. She emphasized that both the social and economic aspects of women’s empowerment are equally important. She acknowledged the hardworking women of Jharkhand and expressed confidence in their ability to contribute significantly to the state’s economy and the country’s overall economic development.

Recognizing the pivotal role played by women in the rural economy of Jharkhand, the President emphasized the importance of connecting more women to self-help groups and providing them with skill development opportunities for employment. She expressed her belief that the conference would increase awareness among women about their rights and the government’s schemes designed for their welfare.

The President also praised tribal society for its exemplary practices, such as the absence of the dowry system. She highlighted that even in our educated society, many people have not been able to eliminate the dowry system. By pointing out this contrast, she commended the tribal society for its progressive approach in this regard.
