Pravin Kumar Purwar IP&TAFS appointed BSNL CMD

Indian Bureaucracy Appointment Update: Shri Pravin Kumar Purwar  IP&TAFS (1990) presently Chairman and Managing Director, Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited (MTNL) , has been appointed for the post of Chairman & Managing Director, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) by Public Enterprises Selection Board( PESB) . Shri Pravin Purwar has been the CMD and Director-Finance, MTNL since June 8, 2016 and June 1, 2013 respectively and served as its Managing Director since June 24, 2014 until June 8, 2015. Shri Purwar served as a Director of Finance at Mahanagar Telephone (Mauritius) Ltd. since June 1, 2013.

Shri Purwar belongs to 1990 Batch of Indian P&T Accounts and Finance Service. He has worked in various positions both at field level and Corporate Office in DOT & BSNL and since 2005, as General Manager in BSNL. Mr. Purwar had also worked for more than three years with Competition Commission of India, on deputation as Advisor and Incharge of mergers & acquisitions. served as the Chairman of MTNL from June 24, 2014 to June 8, 2015. He has been a Director at Mahanagar Telephone (Mauritius) Ltd. and Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited since June 1, 2013.

Shri Purwar has a Masters Degree in Commerce from Allahabad University and professional degree of Chartered Accountancy from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India. Shri P K Purwar would be taking charge from June 2019.
