Prakash Rajpurohit IAS empanelled as Joint Secretary at the Centre
Shri Prakash Rajpurohit IAS (Rajasthan 2010) has been empanelled for holding the post
of Joint Secretary at the Centre.
Shri Prakash Rajpurohit is a distinguished IAS officer with a strong academic and administrative background. He holds a B.Tech in Electrical Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology Delhi, where he graduated with an “Outstanding” distinction. Known for his extensive experience in finance, revenue administration, and district governance, he has built a well-rounded career across key assignments in both the Government of India and the Government of Rajasthan.
Currently, he is serving as Director in the Department of Economic Affairs, Ministry of Finance, Government of India, New Delhi, a position he assumed on 9 April 2025 and is set to hold until April 2030. In this role, he is engaged in critical policy matters related to finance and economic affairs at the national level. Prior to this, he served as Commercial Tax Commissioner in the Finance & Commercial Taxes Department, Rajasthan, where he handled significant responsibilities related to revenue administration and taxation.
His administrative acumen is further reflected in his tenure as District Collector and District Magistrate of Jaipur from July 2022 to September 2024, where he oversaw complex urban governance and district administration. He also briefly served as Excise Commissioner in Udaipur and as Mission Director in the Public Health Engineering Department (PHED), Jaipur, contributing to areas such as excise management and drinking water supply systems.
Over the years, Shri Rajpurohit has held multiple positions as Collector and District Magistrate across several districts of Rajasthan, including Ajmer, Jodhpur, Alwar, Hanumangarh, and Banswara. In these roles, he was responsible for land revenue management, law and order, and overall district administration, gaining extensive grassroots governance experience. His earlier assignments include serving as Joint Secretary in the Finance (Expenditure) Department in Jaipur, as well as Sub-Divisional Officer in Ganganagar and Assistant Collector & Assistant Magistrate in Alwar, where he developed a strong foundation in administrative functions.
With a career spanning diverse sectors such as finance, taxation, water resources, excise, and district administration, Shri Prakash Rajpurohit exemplifies the versatility and depth associated with Indian Administrative Service officers. His trajectory reflects a balanced blend of field experience and policy-level engagement, contributing meaningfully to governance and public administration.
