In Jagdalpur, Bastar, Chhattisgarh, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for multiple development projects totaling around Rs 27,000 crore. These projects include the inauguration of NMDC Steel Ltd’s Steel Plant in Nagarnar expected at a cost of approximate  Rs 23,800 crores, along with several railway and road sector initiatives. Additionally, the steel plant is set to generate employment opportunities for approximately 50,000 youth in Bastar and neighboring regions, fostering the development of aspirational districts like Bastar. PM, informed that the allocation for infrastructure this year has witnessed a six-fold increase, amounting to 10 lakh crore.

The Prime Minister emphasised on his government’s commitment to enhancing connectivity in Chhattisgarh through economic corridors, modern highways, and significant increases in the railway budget since 2014. He highlighted the inauguration of a new railway line and DEMU train service in Taroki, along with the expected benefits of the rail line doubling project between Jagdalpur and Dantewada, including reduced logistics costs and improved travel convenience.

The Prime Minister commended Chhattisgarh’s achievement of 100% railway track electrification and the operation of Vande Bharat Trains in the state. He mentioned the ongoing station upgrades under the Amrit Bharat Station Yojana, with seven stations already having their foundation stones laid, including Bilaspur, Raipur, Durg, and now Jagdalpur. The Prime Minister also highlighted the transformation of Jagdalpur station into a central hub with improved passenger facilities. He noted that over the past nine years, more than 120 stations in the state have been equipped with free Wi-Fi facilities.

Expressing the government’s commitment to improving the lives of Chhattisgarh’s residents, the Prime Minister emphasized that the projects inaugurated that day would accelerate development, create employment opportunities, and foster new industries in the state. He assured continued support for Chhattisgarh’s development journey and recognized the efforts of Governor Shri Biswabhusan Harichandan in advancing the state’s development. The event was attended by Governor Shri Biswabhusan Harichandan and Member of Parliament Shri Mohan Mandavi, among others.
