Shri P Selvakumar, Director (Planning &Projects) is has been honoured with ” Life time achievement- outstanding Mining Engineer Award” by the Institution of Engineers(India) Kolkata for his outstanding contribution in the field of Mining engineering.
Shri P.Selvakumar started his career as Mechanical Engineering Executive in NLC India Ltd. However, having passion for Mining discipline, later he studied and qualified as Mining Engineer and also obtained First class Mines Manager Certificate of competency under Metal and Coal Mine regulations.
Recognizing Shri P.Selvakumar’s passion and devotion for Mining discipline and unmatched excellent service in the Mining field, the Institution of Engineers(India) honoured him with” Life time achievement- outstanding Mining Engineer ” award. The award was presented to by Shri P.Kolandaivel, Vice chancellor Periyar University, during the 29th National convention of Mining Engineers held on 22 Febuary 2018 at Periyar University Campus, Salem.
From the day one of his employment in NLC India limited, he has served in various departments of mines in various capacities for 35 years. Subsequently, in the year 2016 he was elevated as Director(Planning & Projects) of the company.
Shri P.Selvakumar has successfully implemented NLC India Limited’s Basingsar Lignite Mine project in Rajasthan from concept to commissioning stage as Head of the Mining unit. He has also served as Unit head of Mine-IA and during his tenure production at excellent level has been continuously achieved in all the years. He has also served as project-in-charge for Re-structuring of Mine-I and Mine-IA in Neyveli and monitored all the activities of the projects.
He also served as State Secretary of Tamilnadu Mines Safety Association during the year 2014-15. During his tenure, he successfully created Data- base of all the 2400 Mines in Tamilanadu and submitted the same to office of Director General of Mines Safety, Dhanbad.
