Shri Om Prakash Sinha presently Executive Director – Head, Institute of Reservoir Studies, Ahmedabad, Oil & Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGC) has been selected as Director (Exploration), Oil & Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGC).
Shri Om Prakash Sinha is a B.Tech graduate in Petroleum Engineering from the prestigious Indian School of Mines (ISM), Dhanbad. With over 34 years of extensive experience in Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC), he has made significant contributions across various facets of Exploration and Production (E&P) activities. His professional journey spans key domains such as Exploration, Field Development, and Reservoir Management, where he has held several critical positions and demonstrated exceptional technical and managerial acumen.
Mr. Sinha has distinguished himself in multiple areas of Reservoir Engineering—from seismic interpretation to reservoir simulation and the successful execution of field development schemes. He has been a key figure in managing both onshore and offshore reservoirs, formulating Improved Oil Recovery (IOR) strategies, and screening as well as implementing Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) techniques. His work in conducting reservoir simulation studies has played a vital role in maximizing hydrocarbon recovery and enhancing production efficiency.
Currently, Mr. Om Prakash Sinha is serving as the Head of the Institute of Reservoir Studies (IRS), ONGC’s premier in-house centre located in Ahmedabad. The institute is dedicated to designing and implementing IOR and EOR programmes for ONGC-operated fields across the country. Under his leadership, IRS continues to push the boundaries of reservoir engineering excellence.
Amidst the ongoing shift in the global energy landscape, Mr. Sinha is also playing a pivotal role in conceptualizing and advancing Carbon Capture, Utilization, and Storage (CCUS/CCS) initiatives. These efforts are geared towards reducing carbon emissions and supporting ONGC’s commitment to achieving Net-Zero targets. His vision and dedication continue to drive innovation, sustainability, and operational excellence within ONGC.
