In a landmark move within the Colombo Security Conclave (CSC), two researchers from Mauritius and one from Bangladesh have boarded the vessel for the 43rd Indian Antarctic Expedition. Led by the National Centre for Polar and Ocean Research, Goa, this collaboration marks a significant step in joint scientific exploration.

The inclusion of scientists from neighboring CSC nations in the expedition follows the inaugural CSC Oceanographers and Hydrographers conference held in Goa and Hyderabad in November 2022. Previously, scientists from these nations had participated in a month-long scientific expedition in the Indian Ocean Region onboard ‘Sagar Nidhi’ in June 2023.

During their 3-4 month tenure in the Antarctic region, the scientists will engage in collaborative research across various disciplines related to polar science. This experience aims to deepen their understanding of Polar logistics and the challenges posed by the Polar environment.
