NTPC to keep focus on Efficient Generation

Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, Minister of State (Independent charge) for Petroleum and Natural Gas inaugurated the ‘‘Greener Energy & Efficiency – Journey through R&M’ theme conference of NTPC in New Delhi. Appreciating NTPC’s role in turnaround of the old inefficient power stations, Shri Pradhan said Talcher Thermal in Odisha was taken over by NTPC and placed in the category of the most efficient power stations with highest PLF in the country. Underlining the need for reaching power to all households in the country he said NTPC shall be playing a major role in it following sustainable practices. He also released proceedings of the Conference compendium of “Near Miss Trip Cases” and presented the Business Excellence awards to Ramagundam, Sipat and Talcher Kaniha Stations of NTPC on the occasion.

NTPC’s International Power Plant Operation and Maintenance Conference, Indian Power Stations – 2016 commemorates commencement of service from its first ever generating unit at Singrauli, on the same day in 1982.

Dr. M. K. Iyer, Member Central Electricity Regulatory Commission said this conference is the most sought after event in the calendar of power sector and appreciated the need for such conferences for sharing of experiences and chalking the way ahead.

Shri Gurdeep Singh, CMD, NTPC in his address highlighted NTPC’s leadership position and expectations from it for optimum generation with focus on cost reduction. He assured that NTPC shall contribute to the Govt. of India’s target of providing 24X7 power for all with focus on renewables.

Speaking on the occasion Shri A K Jha, Director (Technical) dedicated the efficient performance of Singrauli the flagship station of NTPC to the quality specifications , engineering excellence and O & M Practices at NTPC.

Shri K.K. Sharma, Director (Operations), NTPC highlighted the Operations & Maintenance achievements of the NTPC having a fleet of units from 60 MW to 660MW and now readying itself for inclusion of 800 MW units.

Conference has participation from the industry representatives from USA, Germany, Japan, Greece, Croatia as well as from domestic players Tata Power, Reliance, Jindal Power, SJVN, THDC, Hindustan Power Projects and State Sector Power companies. Power Sector Stakeholders like Central Water Commission, Central Pollution Control Board, institutions IITs, TERI, CII, CPRI and manufactures and service providers GE, Alstom, BHEL, Hitachi & Toshiba are also present
