NTPC, the largest power utility of India joined the top league of electricity generators globally by crossing 50GW capacity mark, towards realizing India’s dream for 24X7 affordable Environ friendly Power for All. Expressing his happiness on company’s achievement Union Power Minister , Shri Piyush Goyal tweeted – Proud to announce that NTPC has crossed 50,000MW of installed power generation capacity today. Another milestone towards 24X7 power for all.

With commissioning of 500 MW unit at  Unchahar in Uttar Pradesh the total installed capacity of NTPC has risen to 50498 MW.

NTPC as an integrated power major remains committed to affordable power for the consumers through sustainable power generation.  In FY 17 NTPC’s annual generation has topped 250 BUs: Company commenced Coal Mining at Pakri Barwadih: Commissioned First high efficiency 800 MW unit at Kudgi and has steadily added to its renewable portfolio.

Ranked third largest power company in terms of coal based power generation capacity, 2nd in PLF, 3rd in machine availability and 7th in terms of electricity generation, NTPC is among the top twenty coal based power generating companies globally. A consistent performer NTPC is ranked 2nd amongst the Independent Power Producers Globally by Platts.

NTPC is a Maharatna and the largest power utility in the country playing a major role in meeting the power needs of the country thus contributing to its economic and social development by contributing nearly 24 % of country’s generation. NTPC has a vision to be the World’s Leading Power Company, Energizing India’s Growth.
