NLCIL has been presented with the ‘Best Enterprise Award’ in the Navratna category for the year 2016 in recognition its commendable work done for the development of women employees in the organization and for the welfare of women & children in the villages around Neyveli.
The Chief Guest Hon’ble Justice Smt Vasanti A. Naik, High Court of Bombay and Shri UD Choubey, Director-General, SCOPE, presented the coveted Award to NLCIL at the 27th National Convention of Forum of Women in Public Sector (WIPS) held in Nagpur on, 11th February 2017. Smt R.Vanaja, President, Smt N.Kalaiarasi, General Secretary of Forum of WIPS, Neyveli Chapter have received the award on behalf of NLCIL.
Dr.Sarat Kumar Acharya, CMD, Shri R.Vikraman ,Director, HR of NLCIL congratulated the WIPS members for bringing laurels to the organization and praised their commitment in the job and compassion towards the society.
The award, instituted by the Central APEX Forum of WIPS in 1992, is presented annually to select PSUs in recognition of the finest efforts made to harness the growth and development of women in PSUs.
NLC IL is regularly imparting Entrepreneurship Developmental Programmes like Driving, Beautician, Tailoring, Computer, catering and other cottage industrial activities to the women from the peripheral villages through Its Women Empowerment Centre. Through this effort, NLC IL has successfully imbibed self esteem among the women beneficiaries of these development programmes, as they have learned to earn their livelihood. NLC IL is also making avenues to the youth to start small scale industries on their own.
The NLC IL, WIPS forum regularly organizes programmes on education, Mental & Physical health awareness and Gender Sensitivity Awareness programmes for the rural girl children of the nearby villages. Number of public and school children benefitted through these programmes.
Also the Neyveli Chapter of WIPS coordinates with the NLCIL management, for the effective implementation of the company’s women empowerment programmes. These efforts won NLCIL, this prestigious award (third prize) in competition in Maharatna and Navratna Public Sectors category amidst many contenders.
This is the eighth time that NLC IL is winning this Award as it has won the same award for the years 2001, 2003, 2007, 2010 , 2011, 2012,2013 and 2014.
