NLCIL inaugurates Free Breakfast Scheme for School Children-Indian Bureaucracy

Dr. Sarat Kumar Acharya, CMD, NLCIL inaugurated a new CSR initiative,  “Free break Fast Scheme” for XI &XII class students of NLCIL Schools , on the eve of  Birth Centenary Celebrations of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay at NLC, Girls Higher Secondary School, Block-11 on.25.09.2017.This scheme will be implemented by Sneha Opportunity Services (SOS) with coordination of Education Department of NLCIL with an estimated cost of `.1.25 Crore per annum,.

Dr. Acharya In his inaugural speech said that, NLCIL has implemented this scheme as a well being measure  to provide healthy diet as breakfast to increase the strength and energy of under privileged children to perform best in their academics and other co curricular activities. Also, this scheme will be extended for special classes organized on holidays. He asked students to keep up their efforts always to perform better results to make their parents and institutions proud.

Breakfast is commonly referred to as the most important meal of the day, especially for children. Breakfast skipping has been found to be more common amongst children from BPL families.

NLCIL management feels number of students from peripheral villages belonging to poor families are coming to the schools without taking their breakfast and unable to concentrate on an empty stomach while hunger and tiredness taking over as the morning progresses. To address this NLCIL management introduced “Free Break Fast Scheme” for 2000 school children under its CSR initiatives,
