NLC India Limited throughout the month of March 2017 extensively organized Various programmes in Neyveli and peripheral villages, on 1st march it inaugurated “Swatch Shakti Saptah” for 15 days ( throughout nation it observed for Seven days only)with a mission to encourage Women Participation and others towards proper sanitation and cleanliness and “Clean India Activities” including Mass Cleaning drive of Water Bodies such as Lakes and ponds under the national mission of Swachh Bharat.
NLCIL with a aim to reach these activities and create awareness in people and to make them to involve in these activities, joined hands with Volunteer organizations like Neyveli Chapter of Forum of Women In Public Sector (WIPS), People Service Group(PSG) Neyveli Blood Donors Association (NBDA) & Association of Volunteer Blood Donors (AVBD) and organized 29 camps.
As part of this “Swachh Shakti Saptah”, NLC IL organizined various trainings, campaigns, competitions ,Street plays etc. in Neyveli and Surrounding peripheral Villages insisting on the importance of the construction of latrines, promoting sanitation programmes, cleaning streets, roads and to generate awareness and motivate people to adopt Sanitation& Cleanliness as a way of life.
NLCI General Hospital doctors imparted the training on the concept “Women & Hygiene” & “ Importance of ‘sanitation and the role of Women” where in large number of women Self Help Groups, members of nearby villages and school Girl Children actively participated. During the camps, Cleaning Kits, Exam Kits Embroidery Kits provided as per requirement.
In these 29 camps which includes Mass Cleaning of 9 water bodies such as lakes and ponds in villages of Kappan Kulam , Sorathur, Kankeyan Kuppam, periperayan Kuppam ,Kadampuliyur, Vanithirayapuram, Vallam, Marungur were undertaken including one Beach at Samiar Pattai.
Also, in Villages like Iruppu, Karunkuzhi,Vadakuthu,A-Settelement, B2 Settlement,B1 Settlement Areas mass cleaning activities, public interactions, quiz Programme street plays, sticker pasting activities carried out.
On Concluding of all the above activities , to appreciate, felicitate and to get feed back from the volunteer organizations a small function was organized at Veludiyana pattu Temple Conference Hall ,Neyveli on 02.04.2017.
Shri R.Mohan, CGM/CSR, Education & Sports Culture participated as the Chief guest, In his speech and appreciated the efforts of Volunteer Organization He note that because of the great involvement from all sides like self Help Groups, Schoolchildren. Volunteer Organizations and Doctors in record time, within a month NLCIL Successfully organized these programs. He appreciated all women self help groups for their active involvement and WIPS, NBDA, PSG,AVBD organizations for constant and continuous Support.
He requested village people to continue the present clean status of lakes & ponds. He stated it is each and every ones individual responsibility to look after the Villages & Lakes clean all the time. he added,.
The representatives of Volunteer Organization thanked NLCIL management for involving them in a great social cause. J.Peter James GM/CSR felicitated the occasion. Large number of senior officials, employees of NLCIL and Volunteer Organization members participated in the event.
