NLC India observes National Day of Mentally Challenged-2016

The National Day of Mentally Challenged was celebrated by NLCIL  at Lignite Hall on 15.12.2016 by Sneha Opportunity Services (SOS), a society functioning under the aegis of NLCIL. The SOS is providing special education, medical attention and vocational training to 78 differently-abled children.

Dr .Sarat Kumar Acharya CMD, NLCIL the Chief Guest of the function,  in his address insisted on the importance of commitment towards the special children for  their protection, welfare and  rehabilitation. He said, if proper care and education provided then, every child can reach his or her full potential to lead a decent life.

Smt. Yogamaya Acharya, the President of SOS, in her Presidential address thanked NLCIL Management for the unstinted support for the Sneha School. She appreciated the efforts of Principal, Teachers, Vocational Trainers and Staff of the SOS in imparting educational and vocational training to the special children.

A pledge pertaining to the rights of the mentally challenged children was administered by the Executive Committee members of SOS, Dr. P.Ravi GS/Medical and S. Mathivanan, GM/Finance in English and Tamil respectively. Shri N.Jothi Kumar, Secretary, Sneha Opportunity School presented the Annual report and explained in detail about the various activities & training programmes carried for the students. Earlier Shri Thirugnana Sambanda Murthy, GM/Transport, Exe.Committee Member welcomed the gathering

NLCIL Directors Shri Rakesh Kumar, Shri P.Sevakumar, Shri R .Vikraman graced the occasion with their family members. CMD, Directors, President, SOS & Ladies club patrons Smt. Devaki Thangapandian, Smt. Shanthi Selvakumar , Smt. Shanthi Vikraman  distributed special gift to the  students  & staff of the school. The function ended with a cultural programme in which the Sneha children gave a scintillating performance and won the hearts of all the audience.
