As part of NLC India Ltd.’s plan to establish 4000 MW Solar Power Projects in various states under green initiatives, in line with the National Solar Mission announced by the Government of India, the commencement of construction works for 65MW Solar Power Plant at Block-5, Neyveli was held on 17.08.2016.
This 65 MW Solar Power Plant will be constructed in an area of 325 acres i.e in 200 acres of 5 &6 Blocks and 125 acres in Kolliruppu near, New Neyveli Thermal Power Project (NNTPP),in the northen side of Neyveli . Approximately 2,38,600 Solar Photo Voltaic modules (Solar Panels), each with the power generating capacity of 280/310 Watt will be installed in the project. The power generated from this plant is fed to the Tamilnadu Generation and Distribution Corporation (TANGEDCO), the sole beneficiary.M/s. Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited is the Engineering, Procurement and Commissioning Contractor of
this Project. In a simple function, Shri Sarat Kumar Acharya CMD, NLC India Ltd., inaugurated the construction activities of grid interactive of 65 MW Solar Plant(A/C) in the presence of Shri Rakesh Kumar,Shri SubirDas,Shri V.Thangapandian ,Shri Selvakumar , Functional Directors of NLC India Ltd.,. Executive Directors, Senior officials & employees of NLC India Ltd., and M/S BHEL participated. Earlier, NLC has already established a 10 MW Solar Photo Volatic project at Neyveli, commissioned by M/s. Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited. 130 MW Solar Power Project at Barsingsar, Rajasthan is finalized and waiting for the signing of Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with the State Government of Rajasthan. PPAs for Solar Power Projects were already signed with Government of UttarPradesh , Odisha & Andaman&Nicobar Islands. Recently the works for the 65MW Solar Power Project of NLC India Ltd., commenced in the Block-1 of Neyveli Town Ship by M/S Jakson Engineering Ltd and the work is under progress.
