The President of India has accepted the resignation of Brig. (Dr.) B. D. Mishra (Retd.) from the post of Lieutenant Governor of the Union Territory of Ladakh. Brig. Mishra, a decorated Army veteran and seasoned administrator, had been serving in the role since February 2023, during which he focused on strengthening governance and accelerating development initiatives in the strategically important region.
In a significant reshuffle, the President has also approved the appointment of new Governors and a Lieutenant Governor to fill key constitutional positions across states and Union Territories.
Professor Ashim Kumar Ghosh has been appointed as the new Governor of Haryana. A respected academic and veteran BJP leader from West Bengal, Prof. Ghosh brings with him a wealth of experience in public life and education. His appointment is seen as a step towards furthering educational reforms and fostering inclusive governance in Haryana.
Shri Pusapati Ashok Gajapathi Raju, a senior leader and former Union Minister for Civil Aviation, has been appointed as the Governor of Goa. A prominent political figure from Andhra Pradesh and scion of the royal family of Vizianagaram, his administrative experience is expected to strengthen Goa’s governance landscape.
Shri Kavinder Gupta, a senior BJP leader from Jammu & Kashmir and former Deputy Chief Minister of the erstwhile state, has been appointed as the new Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh. Known for his grassroots connect and legislative experience, Gupta’s leadership is expected to bring renewed momentum to developmental projects in the Union Territory.
All the above appointments will take effect from the dates the appointees assume charge of their respective offices. These changes are aimed at reinforcing governance, administrative efficiency, and public welfare in the respective regions.
