Every year April 24 is being observed as National Panchayati Raj Diwas across India. This day marks the passing of the Constitution (73rd Amendment) Act, 1992 that came into force with effect from 24 April 1993.On this occasion 20 best Panchayats from all over the country will be awarded by Prime Minister at a function to be held in Lucknow today. The Kuther Gram Panchayat of Himachal Pradesh will also get this award for its best works. This Gram Panchayat was the first to become ODF and was awarded with sum of five lakh Rupees by BJP MP Shanta Kumar. It has also taken lead in implementing Swatch Bharat Mission successfully.

The Kuther Gram Panchayat in Nagrota Surian Development Block of Kangra district is a model Gram Panchayat among 3226 Gram Panchayats in this hill state. It has achieved several milestones in the fields of development.

The welfare schemes of Union and State Government are being implemented in letter and spirit by the Gram Panchayat. To made Kuther as Smart Gram Panchayat is the dream of Gram Panchayat Pardhan Veena Devi.
