Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel has played a great role in unifying the whole country and did not allow the country to divide into princely states. Mr Modi was speaking at a function at the Major Dhyanchand National Stadium in New Delhi to mark Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s birth anniversary. The Prime Minister said, the history of Sardar Patel will never be forgotten.
Mr Modi said, unity is path of the future of the country.
The Prime Minister also said, some people tried to ensure the contribution of Sardar Patel is forgotten but the youth of India respects him and his contribution towards the building of our nation.
Mr Modi also appealed to the people to resolve to make New India when the country will celebrate its 75th anniversary of Independence in 2022.
The Prime Minister also administered the oath of unity to thousands of children who gathered at the Stadium for Run For Unity.
Later, the Prime Minister flagged off the Run in which a large number of people, including sports personalities, are also participating.
Speaking on the occasion, Home Minister Rajnath Singh appealed to the people of the country to resolve for Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat.
