Shri Narendra A Patil IRTS (1996) has been appointed as Joint Secretary at the Centre.

Shri Narendra A. Patil, a 1996-batch officer of the Indian Railway Traffic Service (IRTS), is a seasoned and highly respected professional in the Indian Railways. An alumnus of Pune University with a degree in Civil Engineering, Shri Patil has consistently demonstrated exemplary leadership and strategic insight across multiple roles in his distinguished career spanning over 27 years.

Known for his operational acumen and people-centric approach, Shri Patil has held key assignments across several railway zones. His early roles included serving as Assistant Operations Manager and Divisional Safety Officer in the Northeast Frontier Railway, where he earned recognition for enhancing both efficiency and safety. He further held senior roles such as Senior Divisional Commercial Manager and Senior Divisional Operations Manager in Solapur Division of Central Railway, where he played a pivotal role in freight management and operational optimization.

He has also made a mark as Chief Public Relations Officer of Central Railway and Chief Freight Transportation Manager of Western Railway, where his ability to navigate complex logistics and stakeholder relations has been widely appreciated. At the Railway Board, he served as Executive Director (Public Grievances), showcasing his commitment to citizen service delivery and institutional transparency.

Currently serving as Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) of Vijayawada Division, South Central Railway, Shri Patil continues to lead with integrity, innovation, and administrative finesse. His contributions have been acknowledged with several prestigious accolades, including the Railway Minister’s Award (2014) and General Manager’s Awards in 2007, 2010, and 2013.

A believer in continuous learning, Shri Patil has participated in global leadership programs at INSEAD (Singapore/Kuala Lumpur) and attended the LUTP program in Singapore and Hong Kong, enriching his global perspective on transport planning.
