Inauguration of amenities at Central & Western Railway stations

Minister of State for Railways Rajen Gohain has inaugurated passenger amenities at several stations across Central and Western Railway. Mr Gohain unveiled 14 passenger amenities on Central Railway and eleven on Western Railway through a video link at a function held at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus in Mumbai .

The amenities include Foot-Over-bridges at Currey Road, Nahur and Virar, an escalator at Titwala and lifts at Reay Road, Lokmanya Tilak Terminus, Chembur, Virar and Vasai Road. He also inaugurated five solar power plants at the passenger reservation buildings at Mumbai Central and Dadar, the Headquarters building at Churchgate and at station buildings at Andheri and Bandra Terminus.

Speaking at the event, the Minister stressed the need to provide better amenities on the priority basis. He said the powers have been delegated to the divisions and zonal headquarters to expedite projects, especially those that are safety related.
