PIN News Update: The Southern Command Investiture Ceremony was conducted at the iconic Gateway of India, Mumbai on 20 February 2020. Lieutenant General CP Mohanty, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Southern Command felicitated five Officers and one Other Rank for Bar to Sena Medal (Gallantry), nine Officers, two Junior Commissioned Officers and seven Other Ranks with Sena Medal (Gallantry) awards. In addition, one Bar to Sena Medal, eight Sena Medals, and 18 Vishisht Seva Medals were also awarded for distinguished service.
The Army Commander also bestowed Unit Citations to 22 Units of Southern Command for their meritorious and outstanding performance. The award for the best Record Office was given to Arty Records. The ceremony was graced by a host of civil and military dignitaries and other distinguished guests.
While addressing the audience on this occasion, the Army Commander congratulated the awardees and recipients of unit citations and exhorted all ranks to emulate the awardees and give their best to make the nation proud of its Army. The Army Commander interacted with the media as well as the award winners and their families after the presentation Ceremony.
