In line with the Government’s nationwide Swachhata campaign to promote cleanliness and hygiene in workplaces and their surroundings, the Department of Military Affairs (DMA) conducted a pan India cleanliness campaign from Nov 2022 to Aug 2023. A total of 12 cleanliness drives were organized across the country. During this period, 1157 files were reviewed, with 872 files closed after completing their retention period. Additionally, 5763 RTI applications, 603 RTI appeals, 4231 CPGRAMS grievances, 784 CPGRAMS appeals, and 05 grievances were addressed. These efforts have notably improved workplace conditions, space management, and created a healthier work environment, while also generating revenue.

DMA was a prominent participant in the Special Campaign 2.0 on Swachhata in October 2022. They conducted cleanliness drives at 2668 campaign sites and simplified 398 rules within various organizations under DMA. The disposal and sale of scrap generated revenue amounting to 212.68 Crores. In terms of Record Management, 845435 physical files were reviewed, and 269132 files were closed in October 2022 due to completion of their retention period. Additionally, an effective space of 1,85,887 sq ft was freed up.

The momentum from Special Campaign 2.0 continued, and all attached/subordinate offices were directed to allocate three hours per week for Swachhata-related activities. As acknowledged by the Raksha Mantri last year, Mahatma Gandhi’s cleanliness drive has evolved into a nationwide movement, thanks to the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, touching every corner of the country.
