Mitali Namchoom IAS appointed Director – Department of Consumer Affairs
Ms. Mitali Namchoom IAS (AGMUT 2011) has been appointed as Director in the Department of Consumer Affairs under the Central Staffing Scheme for a period of five years.
Ms. Mitali Namchoom, IAS is a distinguished officer whose career reflects a fine blend of academic excellence, administrative depth, and a consistent commitment to public service within the Indian Bureaucracy.
An alumna of the prestigious Shri Ram College of Commerce, where she pursued B.Com (Honours), Ms. Namchoom demonstrated early academic merit by securing a Second Division. She further strengthened her intellectual and communication acumen with a Post Graduate Diploma in Mass Communication from the Indian Institute of Mass Communication, graduating in First Division. This combination of commerce and communication has significantly contributed to her effectiveness in policy articulation and governance.
Over the years, Ms. Namchoom has built a diverse and impactful administrative career. She began her journey with foundational training at Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration, followed by early field assignments as Deputy Collector and District Collector in Daman. In these roles, she gained hands-on experience in district administration and land revenue management, earning recognition for her grounded and responsive approach.
Her subsequent roles reflect steady progression through critical sectors. As Deputy Commissioner and later in urban development, she contributed meaningfully to governance frameworks and infrastructure-related initiatives. Her tenure in the Women & Child Development Department under the Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi stands out for its focus on social welfare and inclusive policy implementation. She also held additional charge as Secretary in the Delhi Commission for Women, where her leadership supported initiatives aimed at women’s empowerment and protection.
Currently serving as Director in the Department of Consumer Affairs under the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution, Ms. Namchoom continues to play a vital role in safeguarding consumer rights and strengthening public distribution systems.
