Shri Mir Mohammed Ali IAS (Kerala 2011) has been appointed as Director in the Ministry of New & Renewable Energy, Delhi under the Central Staffing Scheme for a period of five years .
The Government of India has appointed him as Director in the Ministry of New & Renewable Energy (MNRE), entrusting him with a key role in shaping the nation’s clean energy agenda. Known for his administrative acumen, multi-sectoral expertise, and commitment to sustainable development, Shri Ali brings to this role a wealth of experience gathered from diverse assignments in governance, finance, environment, and industry.
A graduate in Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering from Crescent Engineering College, Anna University (First Class), Shri Ali entered the Indian Administrative Service with a strong technical foundation—an asset that has consistently influenced his approach to policy implementation and technology-driven governance.
Over the years, he has held pivotal positions across the Kerala Government. As Director (Industries) in the Commerce & Industries Department, he worked on industrial policy formulation, investment promotion, and ease-of-doing-business reforms. His financial management expertise was sharpened during his tenure as Special Secretary and earlier as Officer on Special Duty in the Finance Department, where he contributed to budgetary planning, fiscal discipline, and resource optimisation.
Shri Ali has also served at the highest levels of policy coordination, including a tenure in the Chief Minister’s Office as OSD, where he handled critical administrative and developmental priorities. His leadership in the Local Self Government Department and Municipal Administration showcased his ability to strengthen urban governance frameworks, while his role as Director in the Environment Department underscored his commitment to climate change mitigation and sustainable environmental policies.
Earlier, as District Collector & Magistrate of Kannur, he oversaw comprehensive district administration, disaster management, and citizen-centric service delivery. His experience spans land management, industrial promotion, registration and stamps administration, and land survey systems—reflecting his versatility in handling both field and secretariat roles.
With international exposure gained through study leave in the USA, Shri Ali has kept pace with global governance trends and sustainability innovations. This global perspective, combined with his grounded administrative experience, positions him uniquely to contribute to MNRE’s mission of accelerating India’s renewable energy capacity and promoting green technology adoption.
