Shri Manish Kumar Verma IAS (Uttar Pradesh 2011), presently District Magistrate & Collector, Gautam Budh Nagar has been transferred as District Magistrate & Collector – Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh.
Shri Manish Kumar Verma, a 2011 batch officer of the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), has been appointed as the District Magistrate & Collector, Prayagraj. Prior to this, he served with distinction as the District Magistrate & Collector of Gautam Buddha Nagar, one of the most high-profile and urbanized districts of Uttar Pradesh.
A scholar with a keen academic orientation, Shri Verma completed his Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Deen Dayal Upadhyay Gorakhpur University, followed by a Master’s in Politics from the esteemed Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi. He further pursued an M.Phil. in Space Studies from JNU, developing a nuanced understanding of geopolitics and strategic affairs — a rare blend of academic insight that informs his administrative vision.
Shri Verma began his IAS journey after completing foundational training at the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (LBSNAA) in Mussoorie in 2011. His career trajectory has been diverse and rich with field-level administrative responsibilities.
His early assignments included roles as Assistant Collector in Balrampur and Meerut, where he handled land revenue and grassroots administration. He then served as Chief Development Officer in Pratapgarh and Mathura, playing a crucial role in rural development initiatives and livelihood generation schemes.
He was appointed District Magistrate of Kaushambi in 2017, where he focused on improving governance indicators, particularly in health, education, and infrastructure. He later served briefly as Additional CEO of NOIDA, contributing to urban development and planning.
From February 2023 to December 2023, he served as District Magistrate & Collector, Gautam Buddha Nagar, where his tenure was marked by efficient public service delivery, law and order management, and infrastructural push, especially in light of key national and international events being hosted in the NCR region.
Now, as District Magistrate of Prayagraj, a culturally significant and administratively complex district, Shri Verma brings a wealth of experience, a strong academic foundation, and a reputation for integrity and responsiveness. His leadership is expected to further strengthen the district’s governance mechanisms and drive forward its development agenda.
