Indian Bureaucracy News, New Delhi, March 25, 2026 | Shri Mahendra Kumar IAS (Bihar 2011), presently Managing Director, South Bihar Power Distribution Company Limited (SBPDCL), Patna, Bihar, is appointed as Director – Ministry of Corporate Affairs, New Delhi, on central deputation basis for a period of five years under Central Staffing Scheme (order dated 23.03.2026).
Shri Mahendra Kumar is an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of the 2011 batch from the Bihar cadre. Born on May 5, 1987, he holds a B.Tech in Civil Engineering from NIT Hamirpur and a Master’s degree in Public Policy from IGNOU.
He is currently serving in leadership roles in Bihar’s energy sector as Managing Director of South Bihar Power Distribution Company Limited and as Chairman-cum-MD of Bihar State Power Generation Company Limited. Over the years, he has held multiple assignments in power distribution, generation, and renewable energy, including leadership roles in Bihar Renewable Energy Development Authority and Bihar State Hydroelectric Power Corporation.
At the field level, he has served as District Magistrate and Collector in districts such as Bhojpur, Supaul, Kishanganj, and Siwan, gaining extensive experience in district administration and governance. He has also worked as Municipal Commissioner, Darbhanga, contributing to urban administration. His career reflects a blend of experience across energy, sports administration, and district governance.
