The Special Chief Secretary – Disaster Management, Revenue Department, Telangana, is a senior Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer responsible for overseeing disaster preparedness, mitigation, response, and recovery across the state. Serving under the Revenue Department, Telangana, the officer plays a pivotal role in formulating and implementing disaster management policies in coordination with the Government of Telangana.
The Special Chief Secretary supervises the functioning of the State Disaster Management Authority, coordinates with district administrations, and works closely with national agencies such as the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) during major calamities like floods, cyclones, droughts, and other natural or man-made disasters. The role involves ensuring timely relief distribution, rehabilitation measures, and effective use of disaster response funds. Additionally, the officer oversees preparedness planning, early warning systems, and inter-departmental coordination to strengthen resilience across Telangana.
