Hisar, June 1, 2024 – Luvas University celebrated World Milk Day with a series of events organized by the Dairy Science College in the Veterinary Auditorium. Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Vinod Kumar Verma was the chief guest, with Dr. Pawan Kumar, Director of Student Welfare, as the special guest.
The event commenced with a welcome address by Dr. Sajjan Sihag, Dean of Dairy Science College, and a Saraswati Vandana. Prof. Verma, in his speech, highlighted the critical role of the dairy sector in ensuring food security and addressing the rising demand for food due to population growth. He stressed the importance of producing safe, preservative-free food and maintaining the economic sustainability of the dairy industry.
Dr. Verma also congratulated the Dean for organizing a lecture by Dr. Anil Kumar Punia, Principal Scientist at the National Dairy Research Institute, who spoke on “Unlock your health potential with functional dairy foods.” Dr. Punia discussed the benefits of functional foods, probiotics, gut microbiota, designer foods, and psycho-biotech.
Dr. Manoj Rose, Post Graduate Dean, highlighted the activities of the Institutional Innovation Council, aimed at promoting entrepreneurship and innovation among students and teachers.
The celebrations included various competitions such as elocution, poster making, rangoli, and photography. Winners were awarded by Prof. Verma. Notable winners included Archie, Anisha, Disha, Ruchi, and Vanya in the poster competition, Preeti and Picnic in the rangoli competition, and Anshula, Dheeraj, Ankit, and Anisha in the speech competition. In the quiz competition, Priyanka, Indu Yadav, and Sikandar took first place.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks from Dr. Rachna. Attendees included Registrar Dr. S.S., Dr. Gulshan Narang, Dean of Veterinary College, and other distinguished faculty members and students. The program featured cultural performances by Dairy Science students, adding a festive touch to the occasion.
