Shri lshoo Ratna Srivastav IRSME (2012) has been appointed as Director in the Ministry of New & Renewable Energy under the Central Staffing Scheme for a period of five years.
Shri Ishoo Ratna Srivastav is a dedicated officer of the Indian Railway Service of Mechanical Engineers (IRSME), currently serving as Deputy Chief Mechanical Engineer (Planning & Environment Management) in North Western Railway, Jaipur. With over a decade of experience in Indian Railways, he has established himself as a forward-looking professional committed to operational excellence, sustainability, and strategic planning within one of the world’s largest railway networks.
Mr. Srivastav began his professional journey in the corporate sector as an Assistant Manager at Tata Motors, where he worked from 2006 to 2010. This early exposure to industrial practices and engineering systems provided him with a strong foundation in mechanical engineering and project management. Driven by a desire to contribute to public service, he joined Indian Railways in 2012 as part of the prestigious IRSME cadre.
Over the years, he has handled diverse responsibilities across mechanical operations, planning, and infrastructure management. His current role in North Western Railway involves overseeing planning initiatives and integrating environmental management practices into railway operations. He has been instrumental in promoting sustainable approaches, focusing on energy efficiency, resource optimization, and environmentally responsible systems in railway functioning—areas that are increasingly critical in modern public administration.
Academically, Mr. Srivastav possesses an impressive and globally oriented educational background. He earned his Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering with distinction from Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra. He further enhanced his technical expertise by pursuing an MSc in Sustainable Energy Futures from Imperial College London, where he gained advanced knowledge in clean energy systems and sustainability frameworks. Demonstrating a commitment to policy and governance, he also completed a Master of Public Administration (MPA) from the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, equipping him with insights into public policy design, leadership, and governance.
His multidisciplinary academic exposure, combined with extensive field experience, enables him to bridge the gap between engineering solutions and policy implementation. Known for his analytical approach and progressive mindset, Mr. Srivastav continues to contribute to the modernization and sustainability of Indian Railways.
