Shri Justice Subhendu Samanta presently Additional Judge has been appointed as an Additional Judge of Calcutta High Court for a fresh term of one year w.e.f. 18.05.2024.

Justice Subhendu Samanta is born on 25.11.1971 and has done his schooling from Hamilton High School at Tamluk and Paramanandapur Jagannath Institution at Moyna Purba Medinipur. Studied Law at Calcutta University, Hazra Campus and started practice as Advocate at Tamluk District Court.

Justice Subhendu Samanta joined Higher Judicial service after being successful in Direct Recruitment Examination  2009 and served as Additional District and Sessions Judge, Paschim Medinipur, Judge Calcutta 3rd Special Court (CBI designated), District and Sessions Judge Andaman and Nicober Islands, Additional Joint Legal Remembrancer, WB, District and Sessions Judge, Birbhum, District and Sessions Judge, Nadia, Chief Judge, City Sessions Court, Calcutta and as Judge City Civil Court, 5th bench Calcutta. He was elevated as Additional Judge of Calcutta High Court on 18th May, 2022.
