Justice Rajesh Rai Kallangala presently Additional Judge- Karnataka High Court has been appointed as Permanent Judge- Karnataka High Court wef the date on or after 1st February, 2025, when he assumes charge of his office.
Justice Rajesh Rai Kallangala is an accomplished jurist whose career reflects his profound commitment to justice and exceptional expertise in the legal field. Born on June 1, 1974, he laid the foundation for his academic and professional excellence by completing his primary education at Kepu and his secondary education and PUC at Vitla. He graduated from St. Philomena’s College and pursued his legal education at Vivekananda Law College, Puttur, earning his LL.B.
Enrolling as an advocate in 1999, Justice Kallangala embarked on a remarkable legal journey. He honed his skills in the chambers of legal stalwarts such as Sri G. Balakrishna Shastri and Sri Younus Ali Khan, later gaining invaluable experience under the mentorship of Hon’ble Justice John Michael D’Cunha.
He served as a Government Pleader for two years and further expanded his repertoire by acting as the Central Government Senior Panel Counsel for six years. His notable contributions include his role as Special Public Prosecutor for the Enforcement Directorate and the Narcotics Control Bureau, demonstrating his expertise in high-stakes legal matters. Additionally, he served as a Panel Advocate for the Bangalore Development Authority, and his practice was distinguished by a strong focus on the criminal side of law.
On February 9, 2023, Justice Kallangala was sworn in as an Additional Judge of the High Court of Karnataka, a recognition of his dedication and extensive contributions to the legal fraternity. His illustrious career stands as an inspiration and a benchmark for excellence in the judiciary.
