IRCTC gets award for successfully implementing IT initiatives

Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC), a subsidiary of the government-controlled Indian Railways, has received recognition for successfully leveraging information technology initiatives that have positively transformed rail travel in the country.

IRCTC was conferred with a Certificate of Recognition for planning and successfully implementing various IT initiatives at the “Governance Now PSU Awards 2016”, at a glittering ceremony held at the Hotel Imperial in New Delhi on October 14.

The certificate of recognition to IRCTC has been awarded in the Miniratna Category 1 (CPSE). The  ‘Governance Now’ Awards honour the efforts of Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) that have been key to India’s overall economic growth.

Shri P P Chaudhary, Minister of State, Ministry of Law and Justice & Ministry of Electronics and IT along with Shri Chaudhry Birender Singh, Minister, Ministry of Steel, gave away the award that was received by GM Singh, Group General Manager, IRCTC.

“With unflagging dedication, IRCTC has successfully upgraded its system largely to handle 1.2 lakh concurrent users, 1000 enquiries per second and 7,200 ticket bookings per minute which is further scalable,” IRCTC Chairman and Managing Director Dr A K Manocha said.
