INS Sahyadri takes part in India-Indonesia-Australia trilateral maritime exercise

Indian Navy’s indigenous warship, INS Sahyadri, currently mission-deployed in the Indo-Pacific, proudly participated in the inaugural Trilateral Maritime Partnership Exercise. This historic exercise took place alongside ships and aircraft from the Royal Australian Navy (RAN) and the Indonesian Navy, from September 20th to September 21st, 2023.

The trilateral exercise served as a significant platform for these three maritime nations to reinforce their partnership and enhance their collective capabilities, with a shared commitment to fostering a stable, peaceful, and secure Indo-Pacific region. Furthermore, this exercise offered a valuable opportunity for participating navies to leverage each other’s experience and expertise.

The exercise encompassed a range of complex tactical and manoeuvring exercises, facilitating cross-deck visits and cross-deck landings of integral helicopters. These activities were conducted to enhance crew training and boost interoperability among the naval forces.

About INS Sahyadri: INS Sahyadri, the third vessel of the indigenous Project-17 class multirole stealth frigates, was proudly designed and constructed at Mazagon Dock Ltd, Mumbai. Commanded by Captain Rajan Kapoor, this formidable warship continues to exemplify the Indian Navy’s dedication to maritime excellence.

The participation of INS Sahyadri in the maiden Trilateral Maritime Partnership Exercise underscores India’s commitment to fostering cooperative relationships and promoting regional security and stability in the Indo-Pacific.
