Indian Railways taps design expertise of NID

In a big Indian Railway news, the Railway Design Centre, created in association with National Institute of Design (NID) started its operation from May, 2015 as promised during the Rail Budget.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) which had been signed earlier this year between the Ministry of Railways and the National Institute of Design (N.I.D.), Ahmedabad, will bring in ‘new design cost effective coaches’ that improve passenger safety and amenities.  The MoU is for a period of 10 years and the Centre will be operated from interest on fund of Rs. 10 crore deposited by Indian Railways. The scope of design and collaboration will extend to cover various aspects relevant to all rail transport and allied activities.Indian railways_logo_indianbureaucracy
