Powers restored to DGs of Central Armed Police Forces for posting/transfers

The Union Home Minister Shri Rajnath Singh has restored the powers of Directors-General of the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) and Assam Rifles in the matters of posting/transfers of Special DGs and Additional DGs within their organization.

Ministry of Home Affairs had been deciding on the matters of posting and transfer of Higher Administrative Grade (HAG) level posts, i.e. Special DG and Additional DG rank officers in all CAPFs and Assam Rifles since July, 2013.

Earlier, the Union Home Minister, Shri Rajnath Singh had enhanced the delegated financial powers to Directors General of Central Armed Police Forces under the Annual Procurement Plan as well as Modernization Plan of the Central Armed Police Forces for speeding up of the procurement process.

The delegated powers each for procurement of Arms & Ammunition and Machinery & Equipment had been increased from Rs.5.00 crore to Rs.20.00 crore.

The existing delegated powers for procurement of clothing and tentage were increased from Rs.6.00 crores to Rs.15.00 crore and for Computer and peripheral items, increased from Rs.25.00 lakh to Rs.1.00 crore.

The Ministry of Home Affairs had also enhanced financial powers in respect of items such as “Major and Minor Works, Special Repairs, Land Acquisition and Hiring of Buildings/Accommodation” to the Directors General of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) and Directors of Intelligence Agencies during December last year.
