Shri Himanshu Roy IPS (Maharashtra 1988) committed suicide today . Shri Roy presently on rank of Additional DIrector General of Police (ADGP), had been battling cancer for the last 2 years and was on leave since 2016.
About Himanshu Roy : From the murders of journalist J Dey , actor Laila Khan and Pallavi Purkhayasta in Mumbai, he was also part of team pursuing leads related to LeT terrorist David Headley . Shri Roy who was Joint Commissioner -Crime from 2012-14 was also credited with leading investigation into the IPL betting and was transferred to ATS . During his tenure as ATF Chief- software professional Anees Ansari had been arrested for allegedly planning to blow up the American school in BKC .
Shri Himanshu Roy Dasondi a Mumbai native was an alumnus of St. Xavier’s College and a trained CA. His special interest was always in sports and staying fit.
