Her journey combines academic excellence with decades of impactful governance across sectors such as finance, industry, social welfare, and commerce, positioning her among the notable senior officers contributing to India’s administrative framework.

Her academic foundation is rooted in science, with a specialization in Botany. She completed her B.Sc. and postgraduate studies from University of Delhi, studying at the prestigious Miranda House, where she consistently secured First division. Demonstrating a sustained commitment to academic rigor, she went on to earn a Ph.D. in Botany from Delhi University. This strong grounding in scientific inquiry is complemented by her pursuit of a Masters in Public Management from the London School of Economics & Political Science, where she passed with merit. This blend of science and public policy has provided her with a balanced perspective—analytical, evidence-driven, and attuned to governance complexities.

Ms. Pande’s administrative career began with grassroots-level assignments, including her role as Assistant Collector and Assistant Magistrate in Bhagalpur. These early postings laid the foundation for her understanding of district administration and public service delivery. She went on to serve as Sub-Divisional Officer in Hajipur, followed by key roles in finance and energy departments, steadily building her expertise in governance and policy implementation.

Her tenure as Deputy Commissioner across multiple districts—Chatra, Hazaribag, Gumla, Lohardaga, and East Singhbhum—demonstrates her extensive field experience. In these roles, she handled critical responsibilities related to land revenue management, development administration, and law and order. Such assignments are often considered the backbone of administrative training in the Indian Bureaucracy, and her performance across these districts reflects a consistent ability to manage complex, on-ground challenges.

A significant phase of her career has been her contribution to the industrial development of Jharkhand. As Managing Director of the Adityapur Industrial Area Development Authority (AIADA) and later in leadership roles within the Industries Department, she played a key role in industrial planning, infrastructure development, and policy promotion. Her involvement in the Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation further underscores her engagement with economic growth and investment facilitation. These roles required coordination with industry stakeholders, policy formulation, and execution of development projects—areas where her administrative clarity and structured approach were particularly valuable.

Her experience in the social sector is equally noteworthy. As Secretary in departments dealing with Social Welfare and SC/ST Welfare, she oversaw initiatives aimed at inclusive development and empowerment of marginalized communities. Her work in the Integrated Child Development Scheme (ICDS) also highlights her engagement with nutrition, child welfare, and grassroots-level social programs. These roles reflect a balanced administrative profile, spanning both economic and social dimensions of governance.

Ms. Pande’s tenure in finance and planning further strengthened her credentials. Serving as Secretary in the Finance Department, she handled budgetary planning, financial management, and policy formulation. Such roles demand precision, foresight, and a strong grasp of fiscal dynamics, all of which she brought to the table during her assignments in Ranchi.

Her elevation to senior administrative grades, including her role as Secretary in the Department of Food, Public Distribution, and Consumer Affairs, marked another important phase. In this capacity, she dealt with critical issues such as food security, public distribution systems, and consumer protection—areas central to public welfare and governance.

At the central level, Ms. Pande has served as Joint Secretary and now as Additional Secretary in the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry. In these roles, she has been involved in shaping policies related to industrial promotion, investment facilitation, and economic development. Her current tenure as Additional Secretary reflects both her experience and the trust placed in her ability to handle complex national-level responsibilities.

Throughout her career, Ms. Pande has demonstrated a steady progression through diverse roles, each adding a new dimension to her administrative expertise. Her journey mirrors the evolving demands of Indian Bureaucracy Appointments, where officers are expected to combine domain knowledge with adaptability. Her contributions across sectors—ranging from district administration to national policy—illustrate a career built on consistency, competence, and a quiet commitment to public service.
