Gujarat Khadi sale increases to 3.75 Cr

In Gujarat, Khadi sale has increased to Rs.3.75 crore within a short span following a small decision of state government.
The State Education Minister Bhupendra Sinh Chudasama has announced that the sale of Khadi has been increased following state government’s decision to make Khadi dress compulsory once in week for school teachers.

Last year, total sales of Khadi of Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) had remained at record of 1510 crore Rupees. Current year, it is all set to surpass it. KVIC has set the target to achieve 5000 crore Rupees Khadi sales in next two years.

AIR correspondent reports that Decision to wear Khadi uniform on every Tuesday in primary schools of Gujarat has boosts Khadi sales in the state. There are many other reasons also behind the increase in Khadi sales.

Some institutions have accepted Khadi as uniform for its employees, while ONGC had distributed its last year bonus to the employees in terms of Khadi vouchers.

Khadi and Village Industries Commission- KVIC also launched some unique concept including Khadi Gaon- to boost rural employment by increasing Khadi sales. Young generations have also started accepting Khadi on a big way following its new designee and fashion.
