Indian Bureaucracy, New Delhi, February 20, 2025 | The Government of India has announced high-level appointments in the Department of Revenue, Central Board of Indirect Taxes & Customs (CBIC), under the Ministry of Finance. Shri Vivek Chaturvedi has been promoted to the position of Principal Director General (Vigilance). Shri Mahendra Ranga has been elevated to Principal Chief Commissioner. Additionally, seven officers have been appointed as Chief Commissioners, reflecting a significant reshuffle within the department.

The Principal DG Vigilance oversees CBIC’s vigilance mechanism, handling corruption complaints, administrative delays, and decision-related grievances. Corruption cases are investigated by the Directorate General of Vigilance. The DG Vigilance, collaborates with the CVC and CBI on vigilance matters. Complaints against Group B, C, and D officers are managed by Commissioners, while those against Group A and B officers are handled at the DG Vigilance level. Complaints must include full postal details, and confidentiality is maintained.

  1. Shri Vivek Chaturvedi IRS (C&IT 1990), promoted as Principal Chief Commissioner and appointed as Principal Director General Vigilance, CBIC.
  2. Shri Mahendra Ranga IRS (C&IT 1990), promoted as Principal Chief Commissioner and appointed to CGST & Central Excise, Jaipur Zone.
  3. Ms Rimjhim Prasad IRS (C&IT 1991), presently posted at CGST & CX, Vadodara Zone, is appointed as Chief Commissioner – Directorate General of Performance Management (DGPM), Delhi.
  4. Shri Rajeev Gupta IRS (C&IT 1991), presently posted at DGPM, Delhi, is promoted and appointed as Chief Commissioner – CGST & CX, Vadodara Zone.
  5. Shri Vikas Kumar IRS (C&IT 1992), is promoted as Chief Commissioner – Customs (Preventive), Patna.
  6. Shri P K Katiyar IRS (C&IT 1992), promoted as Chief Commissioner and appointed to CGST & CX, Lucknow Zone.
  7. Shri Sanjay Gupta IRS (C&IT 1992), promoted as Chief Commissioner – Customs (Preventive), Delhi.
  8. Shri Sunil Jain IRS (C&IT 1992), promoted as Chief Commissioner and appointed to DG Valuation, Mumbai.
  9. Shri Shaik Khader Rahman IRS (C&IT 1992), promoted as Chief Commissioner and appointed to CGST & CX, Thiruvananthapuram Zone.
