Govt Approves One-Year Extension to Three IAS Officers Serving in J&K

Indian Bureaucracy, New Delhi, February 18, 2026 | The Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) has extended the deputation of three Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers to Jammu and Kashmir for an additional year.

The officers, Athar Aamir Khan, Basharat Qayoom, and Akshay Labroo, serve as Deputy Commissioners in the regions of Kulgam, Pulwama, and Budgam, respectively. This extension follows a request from the Jammu and Kashmir Government.

Athar Aamir Khan IAS (Rajasthan 2016), presently on inter-cadre deputation to UT of J&K, is posted as Deputy Commissioner – Kulgam since January 4, 2024.

Akshay Labroo IAS (Tripura 2018), presently on inter-cadre deputation to UT of J&K, is posted as Deputy Commissioner – Budgam since April 29, 2023.

Basharat Qayoom IAS (Jharkhand 2016), presently on inter-cadre deputation to UT of J&K, is posted as District Collector And District Magistrate – Pulwama since February 05, 2021.
