Shri Govinda Reddy IAS (Karnataka 2013), presently Joint Secretary, Infrastructure Development, Ports & Inland Water Transport Department, Karnataka, is given additional charge of Managing Director – K-Ride, Bengaluru, relieving Dr Manjula N IAS of this charge.
The post of Managing Director – K-Ride, Bengaluru, has been declared equivalent in status and responsibilities to the cadre post of Director of Municipal Administration in the Senior Scale of IAS.
Karnataka Rail Infrastructure Development Company Limited (K-RIDE) is a joint venture between the Government of Karnataka and the Ministry of Railways, set up to advance rail infrastructure projects in the state. Its primary mandate is the implementation of the Bengaluru Suburban Rail Project (BSRP), which covers approximately 148 km across four corridors—Sampige, Mallige, Parijaata, and Kanaka—aimed at easing congestion and improving mass transit connectivity in the city. The total estimated cost of BSRP is ₹15,767 crore, to be financed through a mix of loans, central and state budgetary support, and extra-budgetary resources. A major funding boost has come from a €500 million (about ₹4,552 crore) loan along with a €4.5 million grant secured from Germany’s KfW Development Bank to accelerate the development of these suburban rail corridors.
