for a period of five years .
Shri Gaurav Singh Rajawat, a distinguished civil servant with an impressive academic and administrative background, has been appointed as Director in the Department of Social Justice & Empowerment, Delhi. His appointment reflects the government’s continued emphasis on entrusting critical social sectors to experienced and visionary officers from the Indian Bureaucracy.
An alumnus of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi, Shri Rajawat earned his B.Tech. in Engineering Physics with a first-class distinction, showcasing a strong foundation in analytical thinking and technical acumen. He further pursued a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) from Veer Narmad South Gujarat University, Surat, graduating First with Distinction, underlining his multidisciplinary expertise that blends science, technology, and legal insight—an exceptional combination for modern governance.
Throughout his illustrious career, Shri Rajawat has held several key leadership positions across Union Territories and Central Ministries. His tenure as Industries Commissioner & Secretary, and later as Finance Secretary & Secretary (Revenue) in the Union Territory of Dadra & Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu, was marked by proactive policymaking, fiscal prudence, and administrative innovation. His stewardship in industrial policy and financial management contributed significantly to regional growth and transparent governance.
Earlier, as Secretary (Finance) in the Union Territory of Lakshadweep, he was instrumental in ensuring efficient fiscal administration and developmental planning. His concurrent role as Director of Census Operations (DCO) & Director of Citizen Registration (DCR) in the Registrar General and Census Commissioner of India further highlights his versatility and commitment to data-driven public administration.
Shri Rajawat’s experience also spans field-level leadership, having served as District Collector and District Magistrate in Daman and Dadra & Nagar Haveli, and as Deputy Commissioner in Arunachal Pradesh, where he demonstrated exemplary dedication to land revenue management, district administration, and public service delivery.
A product of the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (LBSNAA), Mussoorie, Shri Rajawat embodies the ethos of integrity, efficiency, and inclusivity.
