The fourth G20 Infrastructure Working Group (IWG) meeting, organized under the G20 India Presidency, is set to take place from September 21 to 22, 2023, in Khajuraho, Madhya Pradesh. This marks the final meeting of the Infrastructure Working Group during India’s G20 Presidency and will convene over 54 delegates representing G20 member countries, guest countries, and international organizations at India’s invitation. The Ministry of Finance, Government of India, will host the event, with co-chairs from Australia and Brazil.

The IWG meeting will continue discussions from previous sessions, focusing on various aspects of infrastructure investments, such as developing infrastructure as an asset class, promoting quality urban infrastructure, Infratech, and identifying innovative financing instruments for resilient, sustainable, and inclusive urban infrastructure. The outcomes of the IWG discussions contribute to the G20 Finance Track priorities and advance infrastructure development goals.

Key priorities for the 2023 Infrastructure Agenda, including the World Bank report on Enablers of Inclusive Cities, infrastructure taxonomies compilation, and the infra tracker tool for monitoring global investments in infrastructure sectors, will be finalized during this meeting. Delegates can look forward to official meetings and cultural programs during the two-day event.

In conjunction with the IWG meetings, a discussion in partnership with the International Finance Corporation (IFC) will bring together representatives from institutions such as the World Bank, OECD, EBRD, UNDP, as well as public and private sector representatives. The aim is to explore mechanisms for scaling up private sector investments in urban infrastructure, capturing the private sector perspective on addressing challenges and facilitating cities in mobilizing private and commercial finance.

Alongside the formal sessions, delegates will have the opportunity to explore Khajuraho’s rich cultural heritage. Visits to the UNESCO World Heritage site at the Western Group of Temples, Adivart Museum, and Raneh Falls are on the itinerary. A “Ratri Bhoj Par Samvad” (Conversation over Dinner) will allow delegates to savor local cuisine. The Presidency has also organized a yoga session and a friendly cricket match on September 23, 2023, for the delegates.
