: Members of the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) Council, at its 107th Session held in Geneva, granted the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) observer status to the IOM Council. On the 13th of December 2013, the International Organisation for Migration and the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry entered into an agreement to cooperate on various aspects of International Migration and Development. The recognition of FICCI as an observer is aimed to further strengthen the collaboration.

The International Organisation for Migration, established in 1951, is the leading inter-governmental organization in the field of migration and works closely with governmental, intergovernmental and non-governmental partners. In July 2016, it became a part of the UN system as a related organisation. FICCI, the largest and oldest apex Chambers of the country, is one of the only Industry chambers in the world to work on issues related to International Migration and Development with a focus on establishing, promoting and advocating a strong voice for Industry in migration policy.
