Over the years, IHGF has played a vital role in promoting India’s handcraft products internationally. In 1994, when the first edition of the show was held, the country’s handicrafts exports hovered around 2,520 crore rupees; in 2014-’15 the figure has touched 18,639 crore rupees.
“A major highlight of this edition of the show is EPCH’s initiative to promote different craft clusters such as Narsapur, Bhuj, Bareilly, Lucknow & J&K”, informed Shri Rakesh Kumar, Executive Director of EPCH.
The  handmade crochet lace industry of Narsapur in Andhra Pradesh is famous worldwide for the more than 300 intricate designs made by the lace makers of this region. A number of Narsapur based exporters are engaged in production of lace products and in exporting the same to USA.
Over 200 small and tiny exporters and crafts persons, those who are yet to become exporters, have been invited to display their products in theme pavilion set up at IHGF-Delhi Fair.  They have displayed crocheted tops, cushion covers, bags, ponchos, skirts, frocks, table mats, lace buttons and sleeves, borders and chunky decorative balls, curtains made from mix of fabric and lace, throws, bed sheets etc.  The products on display in this pavilion are getting a lot of attention from the visiting buyers.
“The artisans from mega clusters of Lucknow, Bareilly, Bhuj and J&K  have displayed products of Chikankari, zari and zardozi from  Lucknow, jewellery, cane and bamboo and wood carving from Bareilly, Kashmiri wood carving, papermachie and hand embroidered shawls and stoles, Azrakh painting, bell metal art and leather crafts from  J&K”, Shri Kumar elaborated further.
Knowledge seminars on increase in exports through effective use of digital medium and how to do business with buyers from USA were organized on day two of the fair wherein Mr. Manuj Bajaj, CEO, Greybox Technologies apprised the participants about benefits of digital marketing including communication, collaboration, multimedia tools.  The participants got insight into the low cost and high yield associated with digital marketing.
Mr. Will Fraser and Mr. Cole Brown from Velocity Consultancy USA apprised participants about business mentality of the Americans, their needs and expectations.
Two more knowledge seminars on “Export Opportunities in Latin America through warehousing facility at Uruguay” and “How to safeguard your business from International frauds” have been organised.
Cultural programmes being organised by EPCH during IHGF-Delhi Fair are being appreciated and are acting as welcome breaks for buyers engaged in hectic business activity. IHGF Delhi fair staged fashion shows on the third day wherein models showcased products of  participants such as M/s Sini Jewels, New Delhi; Vishal Handicrafts, New Delhi; M/s Veva Fashion, Jaipur; M/s Kohli International, New Delhi; Azero Export Pvt. Ltd, Mordabad; Allia Impex, Moradabad; Hittachi KK Manufacturing Pvt. Ltd, Kolkata; and Ahuja, Delhi.  The products displayed by them were mostly fashion jewellery & accessories.
H.E. (Mrs.) Maria Teresita C. Daza, Ambassador of Philippines to India visited IHGF-Delhi Fair 2015 on 3rd day and was very impressed by the exquisite designs, styles and colours of Indian products. “Over 4500 overseas buyers have registered by the 3rd day of the fair”, informed Shri Rakesh Kumar, who is also Chairman of IEML.
Export Promotion Council for Handicrafts [EPCH], which is the nodal agency for promotion and development of handicrafts, has been organizing the Indian Handicrafts & Gifts Fair for the last 21 years.  IHGF-Delhi Fair Autumn 2015 is expected to generate huge number of enquiries and orders for the Indian handicrafts sector.
