Elaborate security arrangements are in place for Panchayat polls to be held in Goa tomorrow. Voting for 186 Gram Panchayats and 1450 wards will be undertaken. 55 candidates are elected unopposed. Ballot papers will be used for voting.
The State Government has reserved 63 sarpanch posts and 61 Deputy Sarpanch posts for women. Multi cornered contest will be seen in many wards. 6500 officers will be deployed for the elections. 7,49,686 voters are registered for the polls. 70 wards are marked as sensitive. Counting of votes will be done on 13th June.
