Dip in Unemployment rate in Urban Areas says Government

The data on Employment and Unemployment is collected through Periodic Labour Force Survey (PLFS) conducted by the Ministry of Statistics &Programme Implementation (MoSPI) since 2017-18. The survey period is July to June of the next year. As per the latest available Annual PLFS report, the estimated Unemployment Rate (UR) on usual status for persons of age 15 years and above during 2018-19 to 2020-21 is as follows:

The above data indicates that the unemployment rate has a declining trend in both rural and urban areas.

The estimated female Labour Force Participation Rate (LFPR)on usual status for age 15 years and above was 24.5%, 30.0% 32.5% during 2018-19, 2019-20 and 2020-21, respectively which shows that female LFPR rate on usual status for age 15 years and above has an  increasing  trend.

This information was given by the Minister of State for Labour & Employment, Shri Rameswar Teli in a written reply in Lok Sabha today.
